Nos fuimos para regresar. Montefalcone nel Sannio (Molise)

The history of the village where I grew up and where I still spend months of the year when I'm in Italy is a place where time repeats in an eternal cycle, where everything is the same yet everything has changed.

Molise is the region of Italy that has suffered the most from depopulation due to the unequal development model that has favored large cities and abandoned small towns, especially in the southern Apennines.

The streets of Montefalcone are walked by an ever-shrinking community that resists by carrying on ancient traditions and modernity. Each return is a confrontation with a nostalgia that goes back to the time of my adolescence and the sacred rituals through which I was taught to perceive the changing of seasons.
